The Production Supervisor is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of pellet production, packaging/bagging, stacking and dryer operations. This position supervises 2nd shift and other shifts as needed, and is accountable for efficient operations.

  • Oversees Shipping following dayshift hours for bulk and package truck loading.
  • Ensures proper inspections of trailers are completed, paperwork is completed properly and loading happens in an efficient manner.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement in workplace safety by promptly addressing the root causes of OIIs and Near Misses. Conducts effective toolbox talks and safety meetings, promptly addressing safety concerns raised by employees, and leading by example
  • Ensures the shift operates in compliance with OSHA, company EHS rules and quality standards by ensuring employees work safely and wear required PPE.
  • Responsible for Red Zone huddles and addressing problems and for running shift huddles to make personnel assignments. Records accurate loss time date in Red Zone
  • Responsible for providing supervision, leadership and coaching to train new employees and monitor employees in his area of responsibility
  • Ensuring compliance with all QC requirements (GMP, Feed safety, etc.)
  • Maintains high standards for housekeeping and taking advantage of available straight time labor resources to manage housekeeping tasks. Operators keep their work areas neat and clean up spills during their shift as they occur.
  • Works to minimize scrap, waste, and rework from packaging operations is completed in a timely manner
  • Works with maintenance to ensure PM’s are completed as scheduled
  • Responsible for ensuring equipment is available for scheduled PM and maintenance work
  • Responsible for ensuring that operating procedures are followed and that Operators are properly trained
  • Responsible for good shift hand off, communicating production, quality, & EHS Issues to other shifts through the Shift-Huddles
  • Accountable and Responsible for managing shift, vacation, and overtime scheduling
  • Responsible for providing vacation and weekend coverage as necessary.
  • Provides back-up support to the Production Manager during his/her absence.
  • Normal working schedule is afternoon shift - flexible schedule, weekend, and overtime may be required.
  • Responds to urgent or emergency situations outside of normal working hours, as needed.
  • Works in general office and manufacturing plant environment.



Experience

Required
  • 3 - 5 years: Operating in a production packaging environment.
Preferred
  • 1 - 3 years: Supervisory experience
