Position Summary:

Primary point of contact for the US Coast Guard (USCG) to interface with on technical and engineering issues; Supports the USCG with technical documentation as required including but not limited to drawings, component maintenance manuals and stress analysis reports. Responsibilities include but are not limited to processing repair memorandums, ensuring contract compliance with all product design requirements, planning and budgeting for assigned technical programs, ensuring timely and accurate completion of assigned engineering tasks and supporting SRR Procurement with SICR supporting documentation as required (Compliance Record Documents, Engineering Change Proposals, etc.).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Support: 40%
  • Provide engineering support for USCG sustaining contract.
  • Review USCG structural repair memo and provide engineering solutions for recurring discrepancies.
  • Manage technical resolution collaborations between Airbus and customer (ASB execution, irritant resolution, testing, etc)
  • Manage monthly technical meeting with customer to discuss and resolve engineering or logistical issues observed by the customer technical team; Monthly status report provided
  • Support for AHI Logistics: 30%
  • Assist in PQDR process when technical support is required for non-conforming parts returned by customer
  • Identify part evolutions that may have been omitted during configuration upgrades and support obsolescence activities.
  • Provide SICR supporting documentation to facilitate customer acceptance of new parts into their system
  • Metric Assessment and analysis: 20%
  • Manage internal communications with management and support departments.
  • Write processes and procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Assist with PMR (Program Management Review) slides preparation
  • Support AHI alternative Sourcing Project: 10%:
  • Review in detail all drawings and identify if part can be locally sourced
  • Work with Airbus Helicopters (AH) DO and to obtain DO approval for local sourcing when required
  • Work with Airbus Helicopters Inc. (AHI) purchasing to prepare work packages to be sent to local vendors for quotes
  • Answer vendor manufacturing questions
  • Provide technical disposition (QN or NCM) for USCG specific parts being sourced by AHI

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college/university in engineering

Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum 6 years' experience mechanical design, Bill of Material (BOM) creation, and configuration management.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Airbus Helicopters 365/366 Dauphin airframe

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

Required:

  • Operator level proficiency in MS Office 2010 applications, MS Outlook, CATIA V5,
  • Familiar with Aviation Maintenance methods and practices and technical publications
  • SAP working knowledge

  • Operator level proficiency in SAP

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Critical to high proficiency in spoken and written communications
  • French speaking, reading and writing skills desirable

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance management systems proficiency.
  • Preferably some working knowledge of SAP application, WebEx communications, and CRM

  • Position requires key decisions related to the support and sustainment solutions proposed to the customer. These decisions may require extensive gathering of accurate facts and circumstances to minimize risks and meet customer expectations. Key decisions will rely on establishing excellent rapport with the key players of the various support departments.
  • Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources

Organizational information:

  • This position reports organizationally to the Director, USCG Program. Position requires extensive collaboration with other key support departments. This position can be described as a program/project lead that interfaces with functional support departments for completing actions, much like in a matrix organization.

  • This position required extensive knowledge of customer business model, market position and ability to analyze and communicate AHI's performances, processes, and any improvement plans to meet the customer's operational, sustainment, and strategic requirements.
  • Key decisions are attributed to this position which set in motion extensive tasks or purchase of materials and must be substantiated with a decision matrix; could represent expenditures in the millions of dollars if not appropriately reviewed.

Nature of Contacts:

  • Communication with a wide spectrum of contacts which include internal functional departments staff and most important the customer at all levels to disseminate the message intended whether in a dialogue interaction or in presentation mode. Excellent communication skills are required as daily interactions occur with internal customers and external customers.
