Summary/Objective: This position is responsible to price, stock, and rotate items within the produce department, ensure that all produce available to customers is fresh, and provide a high level of customer service.

Essential Functions: Specific duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

· Greeting customers and assisting them with produce questions, recommendations and reaching for items

· Follow approved procedures for receiving, dating, preparing, trimming, storing, price marking, and restocking products to ensure quality, accuracy and product rotation and protection

o Make sure products are rotated, using first in first out (FIFO) method

· Keep display cases and other merchandising areas well stocked and signed, display merchandise in an attractive, appealing, neat, and colorful manner

· Inspects products visually and remove poor quality, expired produce, or produce that shows signs of spoilage

o Handles damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods

· Perform preparation of food products for displays including cut fruit and vegetables

· Assist Produce lead in preparing platters and other special customer requests

· Assist in the unloading of products and transport stock to coolers and storage areas

o Ensures all received produce meets or exceeds company produce standards

· Cleans and sanitizes all produce equipment, display fixtures and areas including the coolers and display cases

· Set up, maintain, and deconstruct product displays

· Follow health regulations and safety standards

· Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: This job operates in a busy retail environment. Exposure to cooking equipment, deli/bakery utensils, and serving a high volume of customers. The responsibility of the position is performed within the confines of the business operation with exposure to differentials in temperature. Some extreme temperatures are possible, including helping to maintain the exterior of the building at all times of the year and occasionally working in a refrigerated environment.

· Regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

· Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance

· Frequent differentials in temperature. Inside - 95% Outside - 5%. Some extreme temperatures are possible; occasionally working in a refrigerated environment.

· Must load and unload products up to 50 pounds safely from a stack of pallets up to 6 feet high

o Ability to extend arms overhead and reach for products and boxes

o Ability to lift and carry boxes/crates

· Ability to maintain regular, reliable attendance

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This position is part-time with 28 hours per week expected. Days and hours of work vary Sunday through Saturday during hours of operation 6:00 am to 9:30 pm. Must be able to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must attend all mandatory meetings and participate in training.

Travel: Little to no travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

· 1-year work experience in the grocery/retail industry is preferred
