We’re currently hiring for a 2nd shift Process Technician III. This opportunity is looking for the qualities of a hands-on Process Chemist that will help with process development and scale-up work as well as general chemical manufacturing in the Low Volume Manufacturing area. Willing and able to work as a chemical operator with chemical knowledge to support troubleshooting and process development and scale-up work.

In this role you will:

  • Responsible for manufacturing of chemicals according to predefined procedures.
  • This position will perform all duties associated with chemical operator production in the LVM production area.
  • This includes the following production procedures: Sampling: raw materials, in-process mixtures, and final product for analysis

Packaging finished goods for shipment
Basic area and equipment cleaning/maintenance
Waste handling/disposal

  • Support process development and scale up.
  • Support site initiatives including, but not limited to, Safety, Quality, Process Optimization.
  • Operate pumps, valves, and other miscellaneous equipment as required to complete the production process in a safe manner that protects both personnel and equipment
  • Independently transfer raw materials from storage containers to reaction vessels while maintaining an accurate record of materials used in the production of product.
  • Follow written work instructions for batch production.
  • Maintain accurate records of all significant information regarding the process including temperature, pressure, weights, lot numbers, and deviations.
  • Perform minor routine maintenance as required.
  • Operate a forklift.
  • Sampling: raw materials, in-process mixtures, and final product for analysis.
  • Develop a good working knowledge of basic chemical practice including distillation (vacuum & atmospheric), washes, extractions and filtrations.
  • Interact well with coworkers and supervisors regarding concerns and potential process and/or safety improvements.
  • Other functions as requested by management.
  • Evaluate and implement new procedures.
  • Coordinate with EH&S for proper storage, handling, and documentation of new materials on site.
  • Keep accurate and detailed notes on development processes and modifications made to them.
  • Support development of written procedures based on development/scale up work.
  • Support existing technical staff on as needed basis.
  • May be required to adjust schedule to cover shifts or support implementation of new processes.

Traits we believe make a strong candidate:

  • B.S. Chemistry (or ChE), Lab Operator (or equivalent), Silane Plant Operator
  • Flexible with hours of work.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problems solving, and project management skills.
  • Self-motivated, minimal supervision required.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Team oriented, problem solving approach to a production environment.
  • Project/deadline oriented
  • Work in lab or kettle room as required.

Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
