Colorado Senator John Hickenlooper - a laid off geologist turned brewpub owner turned elected official - seeks a hard-working and innovative Press Secretary based in D.C. or Colorado. We are eager for applicants who already have strong press and communications experience. Responsibilities include drafting press releases, memos, talking points, op-eds, and speeches; pitching and responding to reporter inquiries; planning, organizing, and staffing press events; and developing and maintaining relationships with national and in-state reporters, TV bookers, and producers. Ideal candidates are proactive, detailed-oriented storytellers/communicators who work well in a fast-paced environment and under tight deadlines with a sense of humor and a positive attitude. A passion for craft beer is *not* a prerequisite. What we do value is creativity, outside-the-box thinking and excellent writing skills. As a team, we take the job seriously but not ourselves and are looking for similarly humble-minded teammates who are hungry to roll up their sleeves and get to work on issues that impact Coloradans. Colorado ties and Spanish-language skills are added bonuses.
