Project Engineer
Reports To: Engineering Manager

Job Summary
Execute capital projects to deliver annual business sustaining and strategic capex projects. Support site controlled budgeting, multi-year capex planning, and yearly capex site spend. Support and Lead graduate engineers in Dairy Processing, Project Management and Leadership. Assure implementation of Early Management on projects to assure results. Provide technical and tactical engineering support to the operations director, maintenance manager and plant managers. Complete preliminary engineering, oversee design and construction of capital projects. Work directly with multiple departments and personnel to support resolution of production issues and process optimization. Manage external contractors in accordance with work site specifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)

Lead development, capex request, build, commissioning and validation of capital projects at Idaho locations as directed.
Ensure EM process is followed and EM tools are utilized to achieve excellence in project delivery and minimize impact to daily operations.
Maintain and influence annual site capital planning annual budget for all capital projects at the plant.
Work with operations to assure Operational Readiness for projects to achieve vertical startup.
Ensure projects delivered meet all applicable standards i.e. USDA compliancy, Grade A and/or PMO requirements
Responsible for understanding and complying with EPA, DEQ, OSHA and other regulatory requirements for the plants.
Lead activities and reviews between General Contractor, Engineering firm and project team.
Lead in the development of startup and commissioning documents and training of plant staff. Research and analyze data, such as engineering documents, design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine acceptability for project team goals. Develop scope and criteria for the design of systems, such as instruments, machines, pneumatic, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems. Directs and coordinates installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and specifications. Evaluates field installations and recommend design modifications to align systems with project design criteria and goals. Maintain equipment, project, and construction documents and plans utilizing Vault. Review supply and installation of mechanical and utility systems and insure compliance with design documents and company standards.

Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification & Experience Requirements

Education, Training:
Requires a Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University; or a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires a proven record of project management
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups.
Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

Language, Computer & Numeracy:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Travel Requirements
Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
