Job Summary / Purpose

The Pipeline Technician will be responsible for the operation and instrumentation maintenance of the Pipeline Assets following the technical and safety procedures and standards according with the Company business plan. This person will perform routine operations and instrument calibrations on Pipeline equipment.

Essential Duties / Functions

• Responsible for the safe and efficient operations of their respective work areas, monitoring equipment, and preparation of equipment for operations and maintenance along with execution of Permit to Work activities.
• Adjusts apparatus controls, adjusts valves, and operates electric switches and valve controls as necessary to maintain assigned process operations within prescribed standards.
• During his/her shift, monitors, inspects and reports Pipeline equipment physical and operating conditions.
• Monitors assigned operations and record data from control meters, gauges and recording chart readings.
• Report malfunctions and unusual trends or conditions to supervisor.
• Performing I&C Preventive Maintenance task on typical Gas Compression & Transmission equipment
• Maintain all test records for instrumentation calibrations and loop checks.
• Performs all work in accordance with sound safety practices and using appropriate safety devices and equipment.
• Implements operation activities at the Pipeline facility including start up and shut down of equipment.
• Participates in the Emergency Response Actions on his/her shift in an emergency event.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position.

• High School Diploma
• Instrumentation Degree preferred

Minimum experience required of the position.

• 2 years Field Operator related experience in Natural gas or similar Pipeline transmission and storage facilities.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position.

• Must have a good basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic theory and application and be able to learn to use manuals and other resources to apply that knowledge in operations and other diverse requirements of the job.
• Must have knowledge of general Industrial Health, Safety and Environmental management systems and practices.
• Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills are a plus.
• Having the ability to work as part of a group or alone to accomplish assigned tasks is a big plus.
• Experience working in an PHMSA regulated Pipeline facility
• Experience with gas compression and metering equipment
• Experience with Emerson Delta V
• Experience in configuration, calibration, application, maintenance, and/or troubleshooting industrial instrumentation is required
• Must be proficient in using a handheld communication devices, 4-20 mA loop calibrators, and computers to troubleshoot industrial instrumentation.
• Good computer and use of computerized maintenance management skills.
• Possesses strong communication, interpersonal, work ethic and technical skills.
• Attention to detail
• Self-starter with ability to work strategically with minimal direction.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position.

• Maintain or ability to maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status

Working Conditions

• Shift Work, Control Room Operator, Rotating to field work for overtime coverage, working alone at times
