General Function:

Provide a wide-range of banking products and services, personalized for MCB clients and their specific needs and goals. Be a primary point of contact for opening new accounts and assisting with clients banking transactions and the necessary operational functions of banking business. Work with lenders and retail staff to develop and maintain client relationships to ensure continued business, extend product connections, and refer and cross-sell appropriately. Develop new deposit business, loan clients, treasury management services, and other consumer and commercial opportunities. Maintain and service a portfolio of bank clients, serving as their primary contact for bank business. Assist branch staff and provide problem resolution as needed.

Essential Functions:

Branch and Account Service

  • Serve as a primary contact for MCB clients, proactively learning about our customers and their needs, and providing a knowledgeable point of contact.
  • Serve as a branch specialist for opening, maintaining, transferring, preserving, and closing customer accounts. Stay up-to-date on products, services, and MCB operational processes.
  • Assist clients, as necessary, with banking business (e.g. order new checks, replace lost debit cards, transfer money, research transaction errors, counsel clients on the use of online banking or bill pay, advise clients on budgeting and balancing their accounts, etc.)
  • Assist Deposit Operations with account research, resolution, and maintenance. Process return items and forms as necessary.
  • Assist with transactions and customer and account service as needed.
  • Always represent the Bank positively, courteously, and with the greatest concern for the customer s interest.

Client Services

  • Serve as the primary relationship contact for clients and strive to offer extraordinary customer service by assisting with a variety of products and services, depending on each individual client situation. Recommend services that will meet the customer s needs and increase MCB s service base.
  • Assist in servicing the Bank s portfolio of client accounts, as specified by your supervisor, and meet production goals as required.
  • Work with consumer and commercial clients to provide deposit opportunities. Focus on core deposit growth.
  • Seek out prospective new clients, both individual consumer and commercial, through leads, cold-calling, previous relationships, events, and other appropriate means.
  • Contact new customers and clients who open new accounts; follow up with them for service evaluation to ensure high service standards and satisfaction. Assist with account questions, concerns and issues. Educate them on the availability of additional products and services as appropriate. Make internal referrals for investments, loans, credit, treasury management, etc.
  • Report any client service issues to appropriate management. Initiate and follow up on problem resolution for clients.
  • Maintain contact with retail and lending managers to identify clients who may be candidates for additional products and services. Follow up and nurture those relationships. Make internal referrals as appropriate.
  • Listen to clients and match the best Bank products to their needs, including personal and business deposit accounts, treasury management services, consumer loans and lines of credit (HELOC), residential mortgage loans, small to medium size business term loans and lines of credit, consumer and business credit cards, merchant services and occasionally larger real estate loans, as well as other products that are appropriate.

Loans

  • Incorporate an appropriate amount of your own training efforts with learning and understanding the Bank s processes for lending, credit analysis, underwriting, loan documentation, and service standards.
  • Sell and assist in selling MCB loans to clients, and convert loan-only customers into long-term banking clients, with multiple services per household.
  • Assist in gathering all necessary financial information in order that MCB may appropriately analyze financial data and cash flow for loan requests submitted by clients.
  • Work to correct and clear any loan file exception or deficiencies promptly.

Public Relations

  • Participate in civic, professional, and educational activities to develop and maintain public image of the Bank, and to continually develop professional expertise in the banking field.
  • Be proactive in asking for and bringing in new business, and in converting simple relationships into multi-faceted relationships with a variety of banking products and services.
  • Monitor and track progress and clients to ensure high standards of service and appropriate productivity standards.

Compliance

  • Diligently protect confidential information, and assist the Bank in ensuring that all confidential and sensitive information is handled appropriately.
  • Maintain an active awareness and understanding of policies, procedures, designated authorities, regulations, and laws, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, etc. Follow these at all times.
  • Communicate openly with supervisors and other management about policies, procedures, work conduct, and job functions. Ask questions to clarify any uncertainty in issues.
  • Address and report suspected violations of policy, procedure, Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, and other laws and guidelines, as outlined in the Code of Conduct. Reported information will be kept confidential.
  • Participate in training sessions and policy updates as necessary. Assist with coordination of scheduling as appropriate.

  • Ability to work scheduled and other needed hours at the designated location(s)
  • All Team Members should provide consistently positive, effective, helpful service to all customers, both internal and external.
  • Assist other managers or Team Members as needed.
  • Management or Bank policy may revise, delete, or add responsibility as necessary.

Abilities

  • Ability to operate office equipment, telephones, and computers
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, in person, in writing, and on the computer
  • Ability to hear, speak, and understand verbal communication
  • Ability to read, write, count, and perform basic math functions
  • Ability to move head, shoulders, neck, and arms freely (e.g. operation of office equipment)
  • Ability to use manual dexterity and fine manipulation for operating a keyboard, using equipment, filing, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds, grasp, reach, and pull
  • Ability to think, remember, learn new information, and apply cognitive data to job functions
  • Ability to assess and concentrate on mental and physical job tasks to see them to completion
  • Ability to drive oneself independently for travel between locations
  • Ability to present information to groups in an understandable format or fashion

Qualification Requirements:

  • Associate s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of banking and/or relevant marketing experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Polished, professional appearance with a positive, outgoing personality and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with only minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Finance, Business, Marketing or equivalent experience
  • Extensive knowledge of banking and/or the financial services industry
  • Strong marketing and public relations knowledge and skills
  • Strong analytical, written, verbal presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Community banking experience preferred
