Patient Care Assistant - OR
Become a member of our Surgery Center team as a PCA in our Operating Rooms! As a PCA, you will assist with sterile set up, assisting and moving of patients as well as cleaning after each procedure preparing for the next case.
Fu ll-time (four 10 hour shifts) Monday - Friday

Position Purpose
Assists surgical team during operative procedures. Arranges and inventories sterile set-up for operation, and passes items as needed to the operating team. Assists in preparing and moving patients, and in cleaning the operating theater. The OR Tech is responsible for the provision of surgical care to meet identified patient outcomes and to achieve the goals of the facility as directed by the Registered Nurse.
Interpersonal Relationships
As a representative of FACILITY, all comments, attitudes, actions, and behaviors have a direct affect on the facility's image and perceptions of quality service. Interaction with patients, family members, physicians, referral sources, affiliating schools, visitors, etc. must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and professional. This behavior should promote an atmosphere of teamwork congruent with facility standards and guidelines to promote positive relations, and set an example for the staff.
Position Requirements
Licenses or Certifications: Successful completion of PATIENT CARE ASSIST (PCA) program. Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course preferred.
Education, Vocational Training and Experience
Successful completion of PATIENT CARE ASSIST program.
Experience
Minimum 1 year experience in PCA preferred.

Essential Position Responsibilities
A. Job Knowledge
1. Delivers safe patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse and according to surgery center policy and procedure.
2. Demonstrates ability to meet patient's and family's learning needs as identified in the plan of care.
3. Assists the Registered Nurse with patient discharges.
4. Demonstrates continued competence in treating, and caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective.
5. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position.

1. Follows established policies and procedures with regard to attendance.

3. Completes all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and up to date information in accordance with established standards.
4. Adheres to established facility safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

1. Follows established surgical hospital policies and procedures with regard to attendance.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Work is indoors in climate-controlled environment. Patient care environment with potential exposure to unpleasant odors, to blood and body fluids that may carry infection, to infectious disease, and to chemical and electrical hazards. Occasional exposure to outdoor climate.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical requirements for the position include the ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and feel objects. Ability to climb, pull, push, and kneel. Ability to lift/transfer patients in excess of 100lbs. Must be able to push a gurney with 150 lb. on a gurney. Maximum unassisted lift = 25 lbs. Ability to wear lead apron.
DEGREE OF SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO POSITION:
Minimal. Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
