Responsibilities

  • Deliver parts requested to the specified mechanic.
  • Collect any cores or returns in the shop and verify they are properly labeled.
  • Help specify parts needed by mechanic.
  • Count or measure items in incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records.
  • Prepare items for shipping.
  • Ensure that outgoing shipments meet specifications.
  • Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
  • Unpack and examine incoming shipments, claim damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve any discrepancies in shipments and/or bin locations.
  • Stock incoming parts shipments and customer returns.
  • Log, tag, and store special order, back order, and warranty parts.
  • Ensure that all parts are clearly identified and adequately protected against rust or other damage.
  • Help maintain the professional appearance of the parts department.
  • Pick up parts and equipment from customer, satellite stores and vendors, to be coordinated with the Parts Manager, Parts Counter people, or Shipping and Receiving Clerk before leaving. Operate hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments.
  • Operate company vehicles to make pick-ups and deliveries as required.
  • Assist customers with "will-call" service.
  • Perform warehouse stock counts throughout the year.
  • Maintain areas in and around the warehouse as required, including security controls.
  • Oversee the parts sales process from start to finish.
  • Communicate with staff and customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Converse effectively/efficiently regarding customer parts status.
  • Read and understand the parts catalog when looking up and speaking to specific parts.
  • Answer phone calls, provide price quotes and other information to customers.
  • Review body shop estimates to verify the parts ordered are correct and all pricing is in line with the estimate.
  • Provide high level service to both internal and external customers.
  • Pull/fill orders from stock and maintain weekly bin checks to ensure accuracy of stock.
  • Notify parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
  • Locate out-of-stock parts from outside source and submit an emergency order, if necessary.
  • Make sure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair order.
  • Receive payment from retail customers or obtains credit authorization.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Eager to improve in a dynamic work environment
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to read/interpret safety and maintenance documents
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
