JOB DESCRIPTION
Graduate teaching assistants provide academic and administrative support
that is invaluable to professors and students. From teaching lectures to
grading papers to leading small class discussions, Teaching Assistants are
able to provide a personalized experience in lecture settings. Teaching
Assistants also gain hands-on experience in teaching by working closely
with professors. Teaching Assistants and professors share joint
responsibility for ensuring the division of duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES

 Assist faculty with such tasks as lectures, data entry, exams, tutoring,
and laboratory research, at times being responsible for an entire
undergraduate course
 Observe other professor’s lectures and participate in Westcliff
University professional development workshops offered by the
Learning, Innovation, Teaching Excellence (LITE) Center
 Support the department in writing supplementary curriculum, lecture
notes, answer keys, and visual aids
 Assure the proper setup and cleaning of labs and enforce laboratory
rules to maintain a safe and educational environment
 Develop, write, and proctor examinations
 Record and post grades in the GAP (the university LMS)
 Assist students with course material during office hours and by email
responses to student questions
 Collaborate with faculty regarding all aspects of assigned courses,
including both the online and onsite components

MINIMUM ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
 Conferred Bachelor’s degree
 Pursuing masters or doctorate degree in a Business related discipline
 Those pursuing a masters can be undergraduate TAs
 Those pursuing a doctorate can be undergraduate & graduate TAs
