Goal: Ensure compliance with all appropriate FAA regulations with respect to charter operations and to facilitate safe operations, while ensuring a positive customer experience and maintaining financial goals

Position Summary: Has operational control over Part 135 operations. Ensures that all scheduling of pilots meets FAA requirements. Is responsible for oversight of all flight operations personnel training events and records. Keeps all Part 135 documents (Ops Specs, General Operations Manual or GOM, Training Program, Engine-Monitoring Program, Compliance Statement, Hazardous Materials Manual, personnel records) in current form. Ensures required pilot training and drug testing has been completed and properly documented in the individual pilot’s records. Works closely with the Director of Maintenance (DOM) to maintain an on-going knowledge of the maintenance status of all IA Charter Operations aircraft. Is responsible for working with the DOM to prepare and file FAA-required reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures a positive customer experience while maintaining financial goals.
  • Monitors activities involved in a charter flight operations to ensure they are handled properly.
  • Monitors all formal Part 135 documents for required changes and manages all revisions.
  • Handles all required communication and approval with the assigned FAA FSDO team.
  • Ensures Operations Specifications and 4507 forms are current.
  • Oversees Chief Pilot and ensures all duties are completed appropriately.
  • Ensure new hires meet FAR requirements for the job.
  • Initiates collection of PRIA information for new hires and ensure all paperwork is handled properly.
  • Oversees or conducts all required pilot training and record keeping.
  • Oversees Drug Program Manager to ensure the required reports and random tests are handled properly.
  • Ensures Ground Support takes all required steps to prepare for a charter flight.
  • Ensures proper steps are taken to comply with Single-Engine Trend Monitoring Program.
  • Ensures all required aircraft inspections and discrepancy reports are handled appropriately.
  • Ensures records retention meets FAA requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Intimate knowledge of FAA regulations regarding commercial and charter operations
  • Thorough knowledge of the contents of IA’s Part 135 documentation (General Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, Training Program, and HazMat Program)
  • Skill in managing multiple priorities while maintaining safety, regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction
  • Skill in balancing financial requirements with operational considerations and customer needs
  • Ability to interpret and respond to customer issues

Credentials and Experience:

  • At least a commercial pilot certificate with an instrument rating, have at least 3 years supervisory or managerial experience within the last 6 years in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted under Part 121 or Part 135.
  • For a first-time ever DO, have at least 3 years’ experience, within the past 6 years, as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under Part 121 or Part 135.
  • For a person with previous experience as a Director of Operations, have at least 3 years’ experience as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under Part 121 or Part 135.

Special Requirements:

Must be willing to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and off hours upon occasion when company and customer requirements dictate

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
