The Job


The Regional Parks Department is recruiting for Park Services Workers who are energetic and customer service focused individuals that enjoy the great outdoors and serving people. These positions are the frontline guest service representatives for the Park system.

The eligible list will be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur throughout the County. Parks and their locations are: Prado (Chino), Cucamonga-Guasti (Ontario), Glen Helen (San Bernardino), Lake Gregory (Crestline), Mojave Narrows (Victorville), Calico Ghost Town (Yermo, near Barstow), and Yucaipa (Yucaipa).

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Regional Parks Department manages and maintains nine (9) Regional Parks throughout San Bernardino County totaling approximately 8,000 acres with one (1) Preserve and one (1)Regional Trail system. Each park offers diverse outdoor recreation opportunities in settings that range from metropolitan, mountain and desert scenery. Regional Parks offers opportunities for residents and visitors to host events or enjoy the beauty offered by the County’s natural and cultural resources. Employee opportunities range from customer service to program coordination, as well as maintenance and safety. Regional Parks is constantly evolving to offer the best opportunities for its visitors and employees.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Position Type: P ositions are part-time and are scheduled for up to 38 hours per two-week pay period. Employees are required to work weekends as well as holidays. Employees receive pro-rated vacation, holiday, and sick leave based upon the total number of scheduled hours. Retirement and health benefits are not provided.

Physical:
This position requires frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of items weighing up to 60 pounds as well as walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, and climbing on uneven surfaces. Employees work outdoors year-round often under extreme weather conditions.

Travel/License:
Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance are required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.

Background Investigation:
Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which will includes fingerprints, job-related medical exam, and driving record review with Department of Motor Vehicles.

Minimum Requirements

Six (6) months of full-time equivalent experience (paid or volunteer) in a customer service related industry which includes in-person contact with the general public - OR - six (6) months experience (paid or volunteer) in a maintenance role where landscaping, irrigation, construction, or custodial duties were performed.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills, strong work ethic, and cash handling experience.
