PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Rooted in the mission of the Diocese of Green Bay, the Parish and Community Outreach Coordinator works as a “missionary disciple” to bring to life the concept of “missionary church” by building, maintaining, and strengthening relationships between Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Green Bay and parishes, schools, and key community groups.

In partnership with Catholic Charities and other Curia Mission teams, the position identifies social, human service, and crisis response needs of parish and school communities and creatively strategizes and implements solutions through a Christ- and Community-centered model of service delivery.

The position works collaboratively with and under the supervision of the Manager of Social Ministry and Community Outreach to develop a coordinated response locally to the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. The position will utilize a trauma-informed approach, understand Catholic Social Teaching, and be able to view service to others through a lens of Pastoral Care.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge and experience in parish structure and ministries of the Church
  • Knowledge and understanding of Catholic Social Teaching
  • Understanding of evangelization and discipleship
  • Knowledge of Community Services and Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including public speaking
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Skilled in the use of computers including Microsoft Office 365
  • Skilled in the interpretation/assessment of individual and community needs and the development of plans to attempt to address those needs
  • Skilled in Time Management
  • Ability to work with members of multidisciplinary teams and cross functionally with other offices of the curia and community partners and parishes
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people from various socioeconomic backgrounds in a nonjudgmental manner, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to be empathic
  • Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule of work hours (including evenings and weekends as may be necessary to meet the needs of community partners)
  • Ability to follow direction while having the ability to work independently
  • Ability to demonstrate respect and embrace the dignity of others
  • Ability to problem solve for self and others and to bring forward with an entrepreneurial spirit creative innovation to situations

PREFERRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, pastoral care, counseling, communications, or human services related field
  • Practicing member of the Catholic Church
  • Bi-Lingual
