Description:At Cocoon House we empower young people, families, and communities in Snohomish County to break the cycle of homelessness through outreach, housing, and prevention. Overnight Security is a unique position that promotes safety, security and functionality of Cocoon House in our licensed long-term facility in Everett. The ultimate purpose of this position is to be responsible for promoting tenant and community relations with the overall safety and security of the building both inside and out. this role internally is called the Overnight Safety & Community Liaison.
Overnight Security

  • Maintain professional boundaries with tenants while providing a supportive community environment.
  • Have skills to be a problem solver.
  • Work independently on shifts, including weekends, based on the needs of the program.
  • Build a sense of community and promote a safe and positive atmosphere in the Journeys Program for tenants.

What does a shift look like?
Part-Time

  • Conduct security checks, routine walks and use the camera system to monitor the exterior and interior of the property.
  • Follow protocols for communicating with tenants and community members. Including using de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Follow Protocols to consult with Property Manager for significant after-hour emergencies.
  • Help to promote and enforce no guests during non-visiting hours.
  • Respond to lockouts as needed and while on shift.

Requirements: General:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong and effective communication skills; proficient in crisis intervention/de-escalation. Or be willing to learn.
  • DSHS background clearance
  • Possess a valid driver's license, insurance, and reliable transportation

  • Ability to perform range of physical motions
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Stand, walk, sit for long periods of time.
  • Kneeling squatting and stooping
  • Going up and down the stairs & run for brief periods of time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour
