Position: Outpatient Coders

Location: Remote

Duration: ASAP, 4-8 week contract

Start Date: ASAP

Our National healthcare client is looking for Outpatient Coders to help their team get back up to speed on claims within their Cardiology, Primary Care, and ED departments. They will review and interpret health documentation to identify pertinent diagnoses/ procedures that require code assignment for outpatient records. They will demonstrate appropriate use of coding software and resource materials to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.

Job Description:

-Review and interprets health record documentation to identify pertinent diagnosis/procedures that require code assignment for outpatient records.

-Demonstrates appropriate utilization of coding software and coding reference material.

-Assigns/sequences ICD-10 and CPT to selected medical records per coding guidelines and processes.

-Queries physicians to ensure appropriate documentation for accurate coding.

-Reviews level of care/status assignment orders and initiates reconciliation process.

-Abstracts key information from patient medical records.

-Identifies and abstracts all physician, disposition codes, and other vital abstract data

Soft Skills:

-Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure

-Possess the ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment

-Proficient in computer typing skills

Required Qualifications:

-Certifications: AHIMA or AAPC

Preferred Qualifications:

-Cerner EMR experience

-Athena billing experience

-Cardiology, Primary Care, or ED experience (mainly Cardiology or Primary Care)

-CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)

-CPC (Certified Professional Coder)

-Reg Health Info Admnstr

-Reg Health Info Tech

Education:

-High school diploma or 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required (licensure/ certification can be used in lieu of education or job experience)

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: From $35.00 per hour
