Schedule: School year hours: 9:30am-6:00 pm; Summer hours 7:30-5:30pm*

About Us
Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County (BGCTC) inspire and enable youth to realize their
greatness. Our Clubs in Lacey, Olympia, Rochester, Tenino, Tumwater, and Yelm
collectively serve nearly 3,000 youth and teens annually with safe, fun, and supportive
spaces during critical out-of-school time. Founded in 2001, BGCTC has nearly 75
employees and an operating budget of $3.7 million. CEO Chris Woods leads the
organization and receives guidance from the organization’s board of directors. BGCTC’s
administrative office manages human resources, financial, resource development,
communications and marketing, and operational activities for Club locations.

This position serves our Olympia Branch of BGCTC. The Olympia Club serves kids and
teens in grades K-12. The average daily attendance pre-COVID was between 80-100
youth per day, currently the Club is seeing 30-40 youth per day. Programs are offered
Monday-Friday after school until 6:oo pm. The Club is closed when school is closed (e.g.
in-service days, holidays, school breaks) including summer break.

Job Summary

The Program Coordinator might spend morning and early afternoon hours completing
tasks supporting Club programs, responding to email and phone calls, completing
paperwork, stocking supplies, etc. During after-school hours, time is given to direct
service to Club members and staff and mentoring youth with regard to positive
behaviors, academic support and their participation in Club programs. The Program
Coordinator supports staff by modeling positive interactions with members, meeting
with Club parents, and assisting in multiple areas in the Club.

  • Develops and maintains a safe and positive climate for youth, staff and
volunteers.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of Club programs.


  • Oversees direction and guidance to members.
  • Maintains proper record keeping and reporting procedures.
  • Assists Branch Director where needed with cultivating community support
and relationships with Branch stakeholders.
  • Attend Branch and county-level meetings as requested.
  • Implements grant funded programs as needed.
  • Covers front desk tasks throughout the week.
  • Acts as the lead staff member when branch director is not present.

Relationships
Internal: Maintain contact with Branch staff to provide guidance in matters of

Branch staffing and operations. Interact regularly with BGCTC Operations
leaders. Support and interact with other administrative office personnel.

  • External: Maintain contact with Club families, school district representatives and
teachers, community leaders and stakeholders and the general public to
articulate the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs.


Skills/Knowledge Requires

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in youth development, recreation and
education. Management experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of youth and teens in a high-energy, kid-
centric environment.
  • Experience in personnel management.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications required.
  • High school diploma
  • Demonstrated ability working with youth, parents, and community leaders.
