The City is offering a $2,500 hiring incentive to new hires for Caseworker II which will be paid in accordance with A.R. 2.55.

The City of Phoenix Office of Homeless Solutions is seeking creative, data-driven, solutions-oriented professionals to help make meaningful impact within the homeless services system in the region. Currently, there are Caseworker II vacancies in the Human Services Department.

The Office of Homeless Solutions engages in outreach to individuals, unaccompanied youth, families, and veterans. The Caseworker ll works with community organizations, neighborhoods and police, responding to the needs of homeless individuals and families. They provide outreach and meet clients where they are located in the community.

The Caseworker II develops and implements casework plans and strategies designed to meet client needs and goals in attaining economic self-sufficiency, and social and emotional well-being. Client needs relate to areas such as housing, finances, education, employment, health, and substance abuse. Work involves engaging, interviewing, triaging, determining eligibility for social services, counseling, conducting site visits; and providing follow-up.

Responsibilities include assisting the homeless population in providing emergency temporary shelter, case management, crisis intervention, community outreach, and resources in developing case plans to assist in becoming self-sufficient. Additionally, this position includes assisting with the City's PHX C.A.R.E.S., a coordinated response for neighborhoods and individuals experiencing homelessness through education, resources, and encampment cleanups .

  • Has the ability to conduct outreach in neighborhoods and communities throughout the City of Phoenix.
  • Possesses a broad understanding of homeless and housing programs, including outreach services, access centers shelter programming and supportive housing.
  • Has a background in peer support services and models.

SALARY


$19.70 (minimum) - $29.96 (maximum) hourly / $40,976.00 - $62,316.80 annually. Candidates may be hired up to $62,316.80 depending upon qualifications.

BENEFITS

Additionally, effective 10/1/2022, Paid Parental Leave is now offered to eligible employees up to 480 hours (12 weeks) of paid leave for the birth, adoption or foster care placement of a child during a 12-month period.

Pension Information

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of experience in casework management, counseling, working with crime victims, or related activities.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Experience in providing homeless and crisis intervention services.
  • Experience working with homeless services organizations directly.
  • Experience with the coordination of referrals on the issue of homeless services.
  • Experience with HMIS and/or documenting and updating client case notes and services provided.
