Location: Stony Brook, NY

Schedule: Full Time

Days/Hours: Monday through Friday - 8:30am to 5:00pm

Responsibilities:
SUMMARY: The Quality Nurse will participate in quality initiatives, monitor patient safety, and collect and report meaningful data to improve and enhance care delivery.

Job Duties & Essential Functions:
  • Maintain awareness of quality improvement priorities and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization, including IT, clinical and ancillary services, and leadership, to help develop and sustain quality initiatives.
  • Identify needs for data and analyses in the clinical services and provide high quality, actionable reports to department and division leadership to drive quality improvement efforts.
  • Review and extract patient information from the medical record and generate ad-hoc reports as deemed appropriate by the Vice Chair for Quality & Safety.
  • Collect, prepare, and present accurate, timely data to display results of process improvements.
  • Review data and analyze outcomes for patterns and trends in order to communicate findings and develop evidence-based policies related to process improvement.
  • Understand and maintain knowledge of regulatory and/or standards, including but not limited to HIPAA, NYSDOH, Joint Commission, Article 28, and OSHA.
  • Regularly seek feedback on performance and applies continuous professional improvement.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Current registration to practice as a Licensed Registered Nurse in New York State.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently based on project needs.
  • Superior organization skills, detail oriented, and ability to be persistent and follow through.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience and skill with health care-related systems/databases and health care quality reporting.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is largely sedentary and requires the employee to remain stationary for a majority of the day. The responsibilities and tasks outlined in this job description are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of CPMP.
