Summary of Duties (not an exhaustive list):

  • This is a clinical position where the incumbent performs neuro-diagnostic testing including EEG studies in both the outpatient ambulatory and inpatient settings.
  • Incumbent must be technically adept, have excellent patient care and customer service skill sets, and be able to work with severely ill pediatric patient populations.
  • Performs EEG Testing and related or separate neuro-diagnostic testing, services, procedures and techniques on outpatients and inpatients as assigned
  • Assists medical providers in performing special procedures as assigned. Performs inter-operative EEG under the direct supervision of neurologists
  • Documents all services performed in applicable medical records system
  • Abstracts relevant information from the patient’s clinical record and obtains additional information by questioning
  • Files recordings and enters file data in the computer database * Timely charge for proper procedures through H.I.S. System
  • Inspects and assures proper maintenance of all equipment and make minor repairs when possible
  • Keeps equipment in a clean operating condition

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Arranges for equipment repair and servicing.

Minimum Skills (should align with and be detailed on your resume):

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill of technical expertise as evidenced by:
  • Preparing patient, including those under Intensive Care
  • Properly uses the international 10/20 electrode measurement and placement
  • Recognizes wake & sleep stages along with abnormal testing results and seizure patterns
  • Applies a variety of Bio-Potential Electrodes as required
  • Obtains standard recordings and recognize and eliminate causes of electrical interference and other artifacts
  • Describes and documents all abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the test
  • Uses activating procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation and sleep
  • When indicated by the circumstances of the EEG recording, monitors on the same apparatus other variables such as electromyograms, electrocardiograms, electroculograms, respirations, etc
  • Capacity to deal with severely ill children

Education (please ensure date attended, degree, & school name are complete):

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Preparatory coursework in sciences such as biology, anatomy, physiology and/or chemistry
  • Graduate of approved program in Neurophysiology/Neuro-diagnostics preferred
