Grumman/Butkus Associates (GBA) is a nationally recognized professional firm specializing in sustainable design engineering and energy efficiency consulting. We provide mechanical and electrical design services to commercial, educational, governmental, health-care, laboratory, hotel and industrial clients, with an expertise in energy intensive facilities. GBA currently employs around 85 people in our Evanston, Illinois office where the firm has been located for nearly 50 years.

Position Description

The Network Administrator configures and manages company local and remote networking.

Responsibilities

1. Addresses all networking support requests from staff working locally or remotely.

2. Configures, updates and repairs networking hardware and software, including servers, switches, routers, backup hardware and wiring.

3. Assists and instructs company staff regarding network security, including user best practices.

4. Monitors and evaluates network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency.

5. Protects the organization's values and implements corporate policies by keeping information confidential.

6. Works under the direction of the Manager of Information Systems (MIS), implementing the strategic plan formulated by the MIS and company principals.

7. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Skills and Qualifications

Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, strong customer service orientation, research skills, problem-solving logic and persistence, ability to organize and record data accurately. Physical strength and flexibility sufficient for lifting, moving and connecting servers, switches and uninterruptible power supplies weighing up to 55 lbs. Eagerness and aptitude to learn new technologies and to contribute to big picture planning.

Technical Knowledge

Extensive experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Azure, Exchange Online and O365. Mastery of LAN, WAN, VPN, RDP, MFA, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and TCP-IP connectivity. Experience with supporting network printers and TCP-IP phones. Understanding of hardware components of desktop and laptop computers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $77,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
