The Mountain Crisis Clinician provides crisis services to the mountain communities in Gilpin County. Works with the law enforcement departments within Gilpin County (to include Black Hawk PD and Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office) to provide mobile crisis paired-response at request of officer/deputy. Provides crisis services, including de-escalation and crisis intervention for consumers at approved locations in the community. Works collaboratively with local law enforcement deputies and officers to resolve the crisis in the least restrictive setting necessary to ensure the safety of the citizen, the family and the community. Determines the level of follow-up care needed and facilitates the consumer’s direct access to that level of care. Initiates a 72-hour Mental Health Hold when involuntary intervention is required. As time allows, provides training and ongoing education for deputies and officers to increase knowledge of crisis de-escalation, behavioral health issues, and Jefferson Center services. Provides family members information and education to assist them in their efforts to manage and support the designated client.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties:
  • Responds with law enforcement officers to designated sites within thecommunity, including private homes. Provides emergency services, including de-escalation and crisis intervention, for consumers at approved locations in the community, including client home.
  • Works jointly with law enforcement in initiating actions to resolve the crisis
  • Practices trauma-informed care approaches to minimize risk of re-traumatization of the consumer and family.
  • Provides education and options regarding available behavioral health supports.
  • Determines clinically appropriate dispositions to the least restrictive environment necessary to ensure safety of the consumer, family and the community.
  • Coordinates with Walk-In Center clinicians to facilitate admissions to higher levels of care.
  • Collaborates with Jefferson Center Mountain offices and staff to ensure appropriate referrals for ongoing services
  • Initiates mental health holds when necessary to ensure safety of all concerned.
  • Ensures that clinical documentation is completed promptly and correctly.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to and acts as liaison with community agencies, services providers, and natural support systems.
  • Builds relationships with Gilpin County Victim’s Advocates and coordinates response activities with them.
  • Attends and participates in team and community meetings as recommended by supervisor.
  • Meets regularly with mountain area law enforcement departments to review responses and develop strategies for continuous improvement of the program

Other Duties:

  • Completes mandatory inservices
  • Participates in supervision at times and intervals agreed upon with supervisor
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
  • Master's Degree (from accredited University/College) in a related field required.
  • LPC, LMFT, LCSW or comparable license required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Meets the requirements of applicable federal, state, and organizational background checks.
Salary & Benefits:

Grade 52-Licensed Clinician (LCSW, LMFT, LPC)
  • $55,600 to $70,900
    • Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.
    • Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.
**BONUS OPPORTUNITY!! Three phase bonus paid out using the following schedule. ** Based on full time (40 hours/week). Prorate if less than 40 hours/week. Must work a minimum of 20 hours/week to be eligible for bonus.
