Location: Spruce Pine, NC - Schoolhouse

Responsibilities:

  • Develops Short-term and Medium-term mining plans based on all available geological and laboratory data, environmental, regulatory, legal information to support production goals
  • Supports implementation of Long-term and Strategic Mine Plans, as needed
  • Complete Run Prediction Plans that meet Plant production goals for quantity and quality
  • Complete short range phase designs and waste dump designs as necessary to facilitate production requirements
  • Complete Post-Run Reports reconciling the mine prediction and actual plant results
  • Participates in Geology & Mining studies to define proper mining methods, equipment selection, mine site facilities, and manpower and production requirements
  • Assists in the preparation of detailed ore reserve estimates
  • Monitors mining methods and equipment to improve performance
  • Perform and/or oversee blast pattern design, layout, and blast hole survey
  • Works with Geologists in exploration and assists in the Engineering phase of developments and operational activities
  • Monitors pit high walls, impoundments, dams, and other geotechnical issues
  • Complete various surveying needs with GPS and/or UAS drone to support operations and Mine Planning
  • Observe, promote, and encourage safe working practices at all times with the goal of zero injuries or incidents at the workplace and off site.
  • Carry out other assignments as may be requested by Director of Geology.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering, OR
  • Master's degree in Mine Engineering or related Engineering discipline and two (2) years of related experience in Engineering
  • Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English and with respect to job assignments, procedures and applicable safety standards
  • Experience with computerized mine planning software, Hexagon Mine Plan software (MineSight) preferred, or similarly appropriate software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in surveying – GPS surveying, including UAV (preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,952.00 - $88,690.00 per year
