BASIC FUNCTION:

Accountable for assisting the Lead Operator in operating the production equipment in a safe, high quality, and productive shift.

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Start/stop equipment, switch product grades, respond to equipment failures, meet production objectives as directed by Lead Operator.
• Proactively complete assigned plant routines and respond to Lead Operator requirements.
• Understand and use the process computer system to manipulate the production plant.
• Keep work area clean, safe, and in an orderly condition. Perform daily routines.
• Assist the Lead Operator in documenting key parameters and equipment status to provide information for subsequent shifts and management. Documentation must be legible and accurate, this information is place in operations log book and production forms.
• Retrieve samples as necessary and take them to the Quality Control lab. Run “in process” lab testing, as applicable.
• Assist the Lead Operator in adjusting initial set points, based on current lab data and current situation, to make immediate corrective action to any process equipment producing inferior quality products.
• Assist the Lead Operator to ensure that product contamination does not occur during product changes or starting/stopping equipment.
• Assist the Lead Operator in communications with all those departments acting in support of the plant, including lab, process automation, maintenance and engineering to ensure quality product and to efficiently resolve problems. (i.e. maintenance, senior management, engineering, and automation must have clear complete descriptions of problems and priorities. Communication between Lab & Production as needed.
• Assist the Lead Operator in responding to emergency situations including, safety, environmental concerns, power outage, and outside phone calls.
• Must be available to work overtime and accept call-ins with or without prior notice.
• Clean and unplug slurry lines.
• Operate PIV.
• Monitor/replenish in-process inventories of consumables, (process chemicals, process media, etc.).
• Clean production area equipment, floors, and general work area.
• Follow directions provided by immediate supervisor, Lead Operator as well as plant management.

• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Entry level position, previous experience in an automated production facility is desired. Ability to make minor mechanical and electrical repairs. Ability to meet various administrative tasks, computer literate, and ability to multi task. Able to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in varying temperatures, noise levels and work from heights.

This position is for our 2nd Shift (3pm - 11:30pm) and will receive an additional shift differential.
