Located near O’Hare, we have an immediate opening for an experienced TIG and MIG Welder. Specific responsibilities include:

POSITION SUMMARY:

This person is responsible for to fabricate and weld a variety of metal components and sub-assemblies using engineering drawings and metalworking equipment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Set up and operate fabricating equipment such as shear, press brake, iron worker, drill press, mill, saws, roll formers, and plasma cutter to produce components.

· Weld components using a variety of weld methods including GMAW, GTAW and Pulse Welding.

· Sourcing material that will be used in weld.

· Welding, fit-up, and fabrication of subassemblies and major assemblies.

· Mechanical sub assembly as required.

· Assemble and tack-welds steel frames and other component parts of machinery and equipment in preparation for final weld.

· Verify position of components in assembly.

· Remove rough spots from castings, using portable powered grinder and hand file, to fit assemble parts.

· Perform quality checks per company standards.

· Make recommendations from manufacturing process improvements.

· Additional duties and assignments outside of fabrication as directed by your supervisor.

POSITION SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

· Mechanically inclined

· Competent with MIG

· Competent with TIG

· Read and understand Blueprints and Mechanical drawings

· Strong mathematics skills

· Strong communications sills

· Mission focused with a sense of urgency when required

· Must have the ability to work positively as a part of a team

· Safety conscious

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

· Demonstrated weld proficiency with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in metal fabrication and welding.

· Knowledge and experience with Lincoln and Miller controls.

· Ability to read and produce quality work from drawings.

· High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

· Must be able to work overtime which may be during the week and/or weekends as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour
