Tutors within the Abington Public Schools work closely with general education and special education teachers in order to meet the needs of all students in a grade or classroom. The responsibilities of a Tutor consist of the responsibilities of our Paraprofessionals, which include: Supporting a teachers daily instructional plan and implementing differentiated instruction and clarification, as needed.Supporting the classroom teacher in responding to students behavioral, physical, and academic needs.Maintaining active awareness of students IEP and 504 arrangements and the educational impact of their disabilities.Implementing accommodations and modifications to Special Education students on an as needed basis.Communicating and gathering information about student progress to general and special education staff, so that teachers may use this information to guide instruction and liaisons may use this information to track progress and adjust service arrangements.Supporting daily, building-based operations as assigned by the principal. Additionally, Tutors are often tasked with the following: Tutors may be requested to implement short-term academic lessons in consultation with teaching staff. Supervise educational activities and assessments on behalf of the classroom teacher.
Maintain familiarity with the general education content in order to provide supplemental instruction to students. Support students who have missed substantial instruction.
