Summary:

This is a full-time, 10-month, or 12-month position within the Division of Academic Affairs. The position reports to the

Director of the Health and Counseling Center. The position involves working as a member of the Health and Counseling team and providing a full range of counseling services to Keuka College Students. The position also assists the Director of the Health and Counseling Center with providing guidance to faculty and staff when they are dealing with students, with the development of programming opportunities for students, and the marketing and assessment of Counseling Services.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and/or group counseling to any Keuka College student or group of students.
  • Provide consultative services to the Director of the Health & Counseling Center on college student mental health issues.
  • Assist the Director with developing standard operating procedures for KC Counseling Services.
  • Assure the confidentiality of such counseling, utilizing standard rules of confidentiality.
  • Work with the Director to establish and maintain a network of community resources for referral of students whose needs are beyond the scope of on-campus services, or which serve as an alternative to on-campus services. Update resources regularly and make this information available to students.
  • Assist the Director with periodic evaluation (annually at minimum) of the quality and utilization rate of the counseling services offered as well as current issues and trends. Based on utilization rates forecast future needs for programming, additional support, etc.
  • Educate the community at large, especially students, about mental health issues.
  • Consult with College faculty, staff and student professionals on mental health issues as they relate to students.
  • Provide off-hours consultation to the college administration as well as emergency direct service to students when necessary.
  • Serve on Division or College-wide committees/tasks forces as directed by the Director of the Health & Counseling Center.
  • Assist the Director with the planning and management of all administrative aspects of the Counseling Center and its staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, and inward and outward-facing customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
  • Attend provided/necessary training and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision, and values and adhering to institutional policies.
  • Maintain a high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s level degree from an accredited institution in social work, clinical psychology, or mental health counseling. Must be licensed or licensed eligible in an individual's professional field.
  • Minimum of two years of supervised practice in provision of mental health counseling to adults is required.
  • Previous experience in a college mental health setting is preferred
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience and desire to work with college-age students.
  • Ability and interest to collaborate with others on projects and programming.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional evening hours/weekends.
