JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of HIM and Corporate Compliance, the Medical Staff Specialist provides coordination and administrative support for the efficient and effective operation of medical staff functions, performing a broad range of confidential and time-sensitive functions of the Medical Staff Office. In collaboration with the Medical Staff Manager, the medical staff specialist assists in the privileging and credentialing process, provides staff support to committees, and manages the throughput of information as assigned. Assists in maintaining the Provider's on-call schedule and assists with coordinating continuing medical education programs. The position requires flexibility in scheduling to support meetings occurring in the early morning and those in the evening on a periodic basis.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

  • Maintains current, accurate demographic and credentials data on Medical Staff.
  • Input and verify medical staff licenses and insurance information into Simplr PRIVPlus computer software.
  • Monitors at least monthly that all licenses and certifications remain current at 100%.
  • Facilitates, as requested, the monthly Credentialing Committee meetings: including agenda planning, coordinating meals, and taking minutes.
  • Performs chart extracting as requested/required.
  • Prepares agenda and meals and takes minutes of other Medical Staff meetings.
  • Sends approval letters to all approved providers after the credentials meeting and maintains a copy in each provider file.
  • Performs the initial credential and biannual re-credential process within the by-laws and policy time frame.
  • Follow up on queries sent out by the Medical Staff office to ensure completion within the timeframe of the project.
Requirements:

Minimum Level of Education: Requires High School Diploma. Prefer education level equivalent to completion of two years of college or technical school. This position requires analytical skills, and the ability to formulate computerized reports.

Formal Training: Must have a good working knowledge of Excel, Word, and be proficient in PowerPoint. Medical Credentialing Software Application is a plus

Licensure, Certification, Registration: None Required

Work Experience: Experience that has equipped the incumbent to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Internships in the administrative management areas is a plus.
