Established in 1970, Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, P.C. is one of the area's largest and most respected orthopedic specialty groups.

In support of high-quality patient care, we are currently seeking an experienced Medical Executive Assistant (MEA) to support various physician practices within our organization. This is a float position where you may be scheduled to work in any of our area locations daily. Fast paced and challenging, you will interact with our physicians, patients, and other departments to provide the highest level of care for our patients.

The MEA’s primary purpose is to provide administrative support to our physicians and create an exceptional experience for the patient. You will be scheduling appointments, ancillary tests and surgeries, triaging calls, and pre-certifying procedures. Duties of this position also include answering a heavy volume of telephone calls, obtaining and/or verifying patient demographic information including health history and insurance information, and checking out patients. Travel between our various sites is required.

In this position, the MEA will regularly travel to our offices located in Hartford, Manchester, Plainville, Farmington, Rocky Hill, Glastonbury, and Enfield; start times may be as early as 6:30 a.m. – flexibility is a must!

Requirements:

Requirements of this position include, but may not be limited to:

  • A BS/BS is preferred
  • At least two years of experience in a medical/surgical office
  • Excellent computer skills; experience with Allscripts and Centricity are a plus
  • Superior written, oral communication, and customer service skills; able to communicate empathetically
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and coding
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented and able to prioritize and multi-task
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions
  • Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently within a team
  • Able to manage multiple phone lines simultaneously
  • A valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation for travel between our office locations
