MECHANICAL DESIGNER

JOB DUTIES

  • Plan and design mechanical and plumbing systems for buildings and facilities.
  • Take production directions from department management and/or project design team engineering staff.
  • Provide design, including all calculations, equipment sizing, system layout, and performance specifications for mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Support project requirements including basis-of design narratives, drawing documentation, systems design, and technical specifications.
  • Research, prepare, then present coordinated design options.
  • Review drawings and research code issues to comply with city, state, and county regulations.
  • Ensure outputs meet the required standards and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Review and train subordinate staff.
  • Effectively manages time as it relates to specific department tasks or production schedules.
  • Utilizes tools and strategies to better understand problems and apply solutions with support from supervisor.
  • Effectively writes and verbally communicates concepts and ideas internally.
  • Self-checks own work and engages with supervisor to identify quality improvement opportunities.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • 0-2 years’ consulting experience – Experience should be in a variety of projects, such as, but not limited to, commercial, multi-family, restaurant, retail, hospitality, office, healthcare, and higher education projects.
  • Degree in a related field such as mechanical, electrical, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of Mechanical and Plumbing system applications in buildings and facilities.
  • Experience with Project Management. Ability to understand Client’s desired outcome as it relates to budget and timing and drive designs communicating those deliverables within the team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with team-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills.
  • Proven ability to understand and recognize complex design problems.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to the small details of a project or task.
  • Self-Motivated - Ability to take initiative or make decisions to solve a problem or reach a goal.

PREREQUISITES

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD. Revit is a plus.
  • Software to perform complex calculations (such as EnergyPro, Trace, etc.).
  • Office software proficiency (such as Bluebeam and MS Office).
  • Familiarity with Building & Energy Codes and Standards (CEC, CMC, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Title 24 energy compliance.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) a plus.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
