Job Summary

As a Gearbox and Pump Mechanic you will be responsible for disassembling, inspecting, documenting, assembling, various types of Gearboxes and Pumps.

Essential Duties

  • Disassembles and inspects equipment to determine repair requirements. Includes Slurry pumps, Multi-stage split case pumps, Vertical turbine pumps, Overhung Horizontal pumps, Right angle drive gearboxes, Parallel shaft gearboxes, and Split line gearboxes
  • Fills out inspection and other various reports.
  • Using various pneumatic tools, hand tools, acetylene torch, drill press and surface grinder required to disassemble and assemble pumps and gearboxes.
  • Ability to read micrometers and measuring equipment to .0005”
  • Ensures that required equipment and tools are functioning properly.
  • Performs routine maintenance on machinery and test equipment.
  • Performs housekeeping tasks as required.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

· Work independently to a set of procedures with stop checks for Supervisor and QC Sign Offs

  • Must have own basic hand tools
  • Must adhere and follow company Safety rules.
  • Ability to drive forklifts and operate overhead cranes in a safe manner.
  • Training is available

Skills & Qualifications

· High School Diploma or GED Preferred

· 2+ Years in Industrial Equipment Repair

· Knowledge of Industrial Application and Practices

· Knowledge of Bearing Types and Fitting and Setting Practices

· Employee must be dependable and capable of working long hours.

· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

· Attention to Detail - Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.

· Cooperation - Job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude.

· This position reports to the Gearbox Shop Superintendent.

Physical Requirements / Working Environment

· Location is initially in Bartow, Florida.

· This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary (Monday – Sunday) and overtime is frequently required.

· Working environment is in an industrial shop; non-climate controlled and is oftentimes hot/humid. Frequent exposure to moving equipment, machines and shop tools, and other safety-sensitive hazards/risks. Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others.

· While performing the duties of this job, you will:

o Frequently use hands and arms in handling, moving materials, and manipulating things.

o Routinely perform physical activities that require use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping. Occasional climbing.
