The SSPARS Missile Defense Radar Operator (MDRO) Trainer will report directly to the MDRO Site Lead. This position will be located at Cheyenne Mountain AFS (Colorado).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Missile Defense Radar Operator (MDRO) Trainer will be responsible for the coordination of training schedules, training system management, maintenance of training records, and assisting the Operations Manager in all functional training areas.

  • Responsible for conducting initial and monthly recurring training using task and scenario-based approaches that address the mission performance requirements in accordance with the Long Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR)
  • MDRO training plan and as operational shift schedules permit.
  • Will coordinate training and development activities designed to ensure the technical competency of contractor personnel.
  • Managing the Mission Specific Vendor Plug-In (MSVP) training system and for creation of the robust and realistic scenarios used for training.
  • Will conduct, manage, and document initial and monthly recurring training status using a task-based approach which addresses all operations requirements.
  • Provide Long Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR) operations, technical services, and operational support of equipment to meet sensor mission support requirements on a 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week (24/7) basis.
  • Interface with the Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM) and other military personnel, as well as other contractor personnel, to support testing activities such as Development, Test and Evaluation (DT&E), Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E), and Installation, Checkout and Evaluation (ICE) testing.
  • Participate in LRDR exercises and inspections. Provide operational activity support to include development/updates of LRDR and C2BMC Operator Tactics, TTPs and SOPs. Attend and complete all required certification training.
  • Conduct operational reporting on a 24-hours-a-day, 7-days- a-week (24/7) basis. Provide a daily report of operational activities as specified by HHQ.
  • Perform BMD mission taskings and accomplish support requests.
  • Document operations, security events, equipment status, authorized software changes, weather, shift changes, changing of the Zulu day, and any other significant events in an operations log.
  • Accomplish SDA taskings and support requests from the 18th Space Control Squadron (18 SPCS) and/or the National Space Defense Center (NSDC). MDRO Trainers shall communicate and collaborate with CSpOC, MDA and other external agency personnel regarding space catalog data, mission status coordination and reporting.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5 years of Ballistic Missile Defense System and/or Space Domain Awareness experience
  • C2BMC experience
  • Graduate of the Sensor Manager Qualification Course
  • Experience conducting training, scheduling for training, operations, and testing

Supervision:

  • Works under the general supervision of the MDRO Site Lead.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Physical Demands:

  • Walking, siting, typing, bending and lifting items as required within position requirements.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
