Job Description

The Applied Materials team seeks an textiles materials specialist with the ability to select, develop, and evaluate soft-goods materials for consumer products at scale.

Job Responsibilities:

• Drive materials selection and troubleshooting projects relating to textiles and soft-goods across all Meta devices
• Support product development engineers in the development of new technologies and remove material barriers from the path to commercialization
• Define and execute testing and evaluation of textile based materials to determine performance and drive material selection
• Define and investigate novel textile based materials to enable technology to be integrated in consumer devices
• Manage vendor, supplier, and manufacturer relationships to scale solutions for high volume manufacturing
• Support high volume production of products while taking ownership of the material selection challenges
• Implement and improve systems to track fabric development internally and with partners
• Develop methods and standards with documentation practice to ensure best practices for material quality internally and with vendors
• Work closely with the simulation, reliability, supply-chain, and other cross-functional teams to provide data and guidance

Qualifications

• BS in textile engineering, materials science, or related field.
• 3+ years experience with textile/soft-goods development, processing and/or application in consumer products at scale
• Experience with textiles related failure analysis, reliability and problem solving for production
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Experience thriving in an extremely dynamic environment and comfortable dealing with ambiguous and urgent materials requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years experience with high tech and industry leading consumer hardware
• Strong understanding of biocompatibility and regulatory requirements for skin-contact applications

There is potential to extend contract up to 24 months based on need.
