In partnership with AbilityOne, Palmetto Goodwill Services manages numerous government contracts that provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Under the supervision of Goodwill, individuals with severe disabilities are able to enter the workforce and become independent, self-sufficient members of the community.

Summary
Performs physical tasks to transport or store materials or merchandise. Duties involve one or more of the following: Manually loading or unloading freight cars, trucks, or other transporting devices; unpacking, shelving, or placing items in proper storage locations; or transporting goods by hand truck, cart, or wheelbarrow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Off-loading incoming trucks
Loading outgoing trucks
Verifying merchandise against receiving and shipping documents
Segregating, stacking or palletizing merchandise in designated areas
Documenting and recording volume of merchandise incoming and outgoing
Support to other commissary warehousing operations
Preparing merchandise for night stocking
Participate in inventories.
Participate in emergency activities.
Observe all safety rules and regulations.
Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Ability to prepare, arrange, or stack items together for safety and neatness. Ability to recognize and report items of poor or unacceptable quality. Ability to operate manual and mechanized merchandise storage and movement equipment.. Ability to match names, numbers and size of items on shelves, cartons, and storage areas. Ability to locate items in designated storage areas, move to storage locations. Ability to understand general layout of the warehouse and the store. Ability to function in a military setting. Ability to work with limited supervision. Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance as stipulated by the contract.

Education and Experience
No specified educational requirements except an ability to read, write, and distinguish between sizes, shapes and to match like items. Prior warehousing experience is beneficial.

Ability to lift and maneuver 50 pound cases of groceries.
Ability to operate manual and mechanized material handling equipment.
Full range of motion.
Ability to stand, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, reach above shoulders.
Ability to maintain continuous walking, standing, bending or stooping for extended periods of time.
Sight required to visually check for merchandizing accuracy and damage.
Ability to work in an environment with dust.
