Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Propulsion Systems, is recruiting for a Sr. Manager, Supply Chain Programs who will primarily be responsible for managing a program team of that oversee all material requirements for specific solid rocket motor propulsion programs. This position will report directly to the Director, Global Supply Chain for the business unit with dotted line accountability to the assigned program office.

Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible and accountable for the strategy, planning, and execution of all material and services content for a program or collection of programs

  • Is accountable for driving financial performance of the material scope; manages the associated budget for assigned programs that has a significant impact on the financial performance

  • Acts as the main focal point for the Program Management Office (PMO) for the entire supply chain and coordinates cross-functionally to ensure that all supply chain commitments are met, and that appropriate mitigation plans are developed and executed to address any programmatic risks related to suppliers

  • Develops the material strategy and leads the activities for the supply chain organization in all phases of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP).

  • Ensures that prior to program execution, all elements of the program(s) plans have complete and accurate schedules, budgets, make/buy plans, and procurement and subcontracts strategies

  • Leads supply chain Program execution and is accountable for resource planning, material cost, forecasting, schedule performance, risk/opportunity management, supplier performance, and supply chain issue resolution. Is accountable for driving financial performance of the material scope of the budget

  • Develops tools, defines expectations, and role definitions for material program manager job function and holds direct reports accountable to those standards

  • Lead and drive initiatives to reduce cost and improve efficiency

  • Work cohesively with leaders in other disciplines such as engineering, operations, quality, and other personnel to manage material performance and ensure delivery of hardware to support production needs

Expected Requirements / Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience

  • 8+ years’ experience in supply chain, program management, contracts, operations, or related field

  • Must have a strong business acumen with a program management skill set with extensive experience leading a team, project, or process to meet complex objectives

  • Ability to mentor and motivate others to overcome obstacles to meet target objectives

  • Experience utilizing proven tools to manage schedule and multi-million dollar budget

  • Ability to work high level strategic initiatives that impact long-term business goals as well as urgent requirements to support day to day operations

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate feedback in a manner that fosters collaboration, trust, and builds positive relationships

  • Ability to work in an integrated team environment and influence change

  • Skilled and comfortable communicating and interfacing with high level leadership

  • Experience implementing and executing material program plans to meet program objectives

  • Experience developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies

  • Skill set and ability to work through others to influence change and drive objectives

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

Preferred Requirements / Technical Skills:

  • Master of Business Administration

  • Capability to read technical drawings and documents

  • General understanding of hardware and material requirements for solid rocket motors

  • Knowledge and expertise working with MRP/ERP systems

  • Ability to communicate complex technical information internal customers

  • Knowledge and experience in government contracting requirements and regulations (e.g. FAR, DFARS, ITAR, etc.)

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off



Salary Range: $138,400 USD - $207,600 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
