Nippon Cargo Airlines, a premier provider of high-quality cargo forwarding services and Japan's only airline specializing in cargo, has an opening for an experienced Manager of Cargo Operations.in our Los Angeles branch.

This position, which is located at our Los Angeles - LAX branch, is responsible for managing the freight operations and monitoring traffic functions within the Los Angeles branch to ensure achievement of quality, safety and fiscal goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs as required.

• Reports operations activities daily to the General Manager of the Los Angeles branch.
• Represents NCA and interacts with local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
• Works closely with other department managers to establish cargo handling logistics in order to ensure the needs of the clients are met and to identify process improvements and changes to increase efficiency and quality.
• Involved with negotiations to establish contracts for ground handling and trucking services.
• Ensures contractors successfully fulfill facility, operational and skilled worker requirements to successfully meet NCA’s service and financial objectives.
• Manages the supervision of the activities and services of the contracted Ground Handling and Ground Services companies. Conducts inspections to ensure compliance to company, client and governmental standards. Determines how to quickly and efficiently remedy operational problems and issues.
• Develops and monitors training of in-house and ground handling contract staff. Evaluates training effectiveness and develops training plans to ensure that staff is adequately skilled in freight services.
• Monitors adherence to safety standards that influence workers, aircraft and cargo operations; reports safety issues to senior management and revises/develops procedures in support of achieving safety objectives.
• Monitors operational adherence to freight service budget.
• Responsible for ensuring the efficient management of all freight operations. Delegates to others responsibility for resource allocation and utilization. Acts as a coach and mentor to others to increase their skills and knowledge through performance reviews and training.
• Maintains specialized knowledge of industry trends, changes in competition and advances in technologies.
