Manager of Arena Sound Job at Miami Heat

The Miami HEAT and the Kaseya Center are searching for an innovative, reliable and experienced sound engineer to join our team and assist with the day-to-day and event operation and maintenance of the arena’s audio systems. The Manager of Sound should have strong background in live sound mixing and digital and analog audio distribution systems, including signal path distribution and routing, equipment set up, and regular maintenance procedures. Candidates should possess a good understanding of frequencies and acoustics, and a strong working knowledge of Dante digital audio IP routing. The Manager of Sound monitors, adjusts and enhances the audio mix throughout the event ensuring that audio levels are at optimal volume levels and of high quality. The Manager of Sound possesses exceptional troubleshooting skills, patience, attention to detail, and great interpersonal skills and will be working on a broad range of events from basketball games to major concerts to corporate events, specialty activations, and press conferences.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of the Arena Sound Systems: Manages, operates and maintains all Arena audio equipment.

  • Maintains audio equipment while keeping detailed inventory of equipment
  • Assists in planning equipment and facility maintenance, expansion, and improvements, coordinate facility maintenance with the Director of Broadcast Services…
  • Serves as contact for technical services involving event audio and intercoms. Meets with Arena clients to determine the requirements and specifications needed for successful events and ensures event audio needs are implemented and executed with the utmost professional attitude
  • Collaborates with other members of the Broadcast Services staff to integrate audio and video systems in support of events.
  • Assists with the installation and maintenance of network equipment and systems; works closely with Network staff in supporting audio broadcast computing and networking systems
  • Responsible for programming of all audio computer control systems for the arena.
  • Maintains software updates on all audio equipment throughout the arena
  • Stays up to date with the latest technological trends and keeps abreast of advancements in the audio field through ongoing training and networking with others in the industry
  • Serves as Broadcast Services Manager on Duty for Arena Events when scheduled.
  • Supervise, train and mentor Audio/Video Technicians and Engineers.
  • Records and edits audio tracks for upcoming events, perimeter walk-in announcement loop audio.
  • Responsible for operating all arena A/V systems.
  • Responsible for operating and programming arena intercom system.
  • Supervise and serve as field tech for remote productions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues with audio systems in a high-pressure live event environment and be able to react quickly to game action with attention to detail
  • Assist and support Broadcasting Dept. with audio and communication requirements for live tv and radio productions.

Desired Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Broadcast Engineering or equivalent; 6-8 years related experience of experience in audio production, broadcast, theatre or concert venue facilities as an audio engineer. Possesses fundamental understanding of audio IP routing and 2110 multicast architecture. Strong working knowledge of Dante digital audio routing and experience with audio signal distribution and mixing systems. Expert knowledge and proficiency in audio system flow and operation: Speakers, Amplifiers and Digital/Analog Audio Mixers. Expert understanding of Mic and Line input signal flow. Intermediate knowledge of software for distributed audio systems. Knowledge of basketball and the familiarity with the Miami HEAT team preferred.
