      Position Summary
      Full-time position under the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) available on or after February 13, 2023 in Faculty Affairs.


      Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs (AVPFA), the Manager of Academic Personnel is responsible for providing consultation, guidance, expert advice, and recommendations in accordance with Faculty (Unit 3) and Academic Student Employees (ASE Unit 11) Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) and California State University (CSU) policies and technical letters, to academic units in areas related to faculty appointments, workload, compensation programs, retention, promotion, and tenure (RPT) processes, professional leaves (i.e., Sabbatical, Difference-In-Pay (DIP), etc.), Faculty Early Retirement Programs (FERP), and other areas related to academic personnel. Incumbent will provide recommendations to the AVPFA on related academic policies and practices based on CBA provisions and Chancellor's Office (CO) communications and take a leadership role in providing modifications to and implementing existing policies and procedures in accordance with these provisions and communications. The Manager of Academic Personnel maintains currency in all Academic Personnel (AP) guiding documents including, CBA, CSU policies, procedures, and technical letters, campus policies and procedures, and is responsible for working collaboratively with campus programs and the Chancellor's Office (S)) in the implementation of complex and highly technical processes. Incumbent is responsible for the management of all the AP activities and day-to-day operations of the Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA), manages the OFA budget and holds broad delegated authority with regard to the operational and management functions of OFA. The Manager of Academic Personnel supervises the OFA staff, directing, training, and providing expert and technical/functional guidance to ensure compliance with all operational AP-related policies, procedures, and agreements. Incumbent review and approves all Unit 11 ASE hires and holds the authority to approve Unit 3 Lecturer appointments. Provides high level assistance to the AVPFA in handling Unit 3 and Unit 11 complaints and grievances.


      Minimum Qualifications

      Education: Bachelor’s Degree

      Experience: Five years of significant relevant experience, preferably in higher education, that demonstrates progressive growth and responsibility, and supervisory experience.

      Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

      Thorough knowledge of:
      • Principles of administrative, personnel, and fiscal management.
      • Budgeting and development principles.
      • Effective supervisory skills, experience, and techniques.

      Commensurate with qualifications and experience. (Anticipated salary range: $66,548 - $83,185/yr.)
