This position will be located in Houston, Texas, and report into the Chief Digital and Administrative Officer. The Manager, Corporate Events is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating executive and company-wide events and collaborating with the Corporate Secretary’s team on Board meeting logistics (venue, travel, and entertainment). This position will supervise members of the Corporate Events team.
Your responsibilities may include:
Manage team, communicate work priorities, and ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment
Turnkey responsibilities for “high-stakes” events; including, board meetings, Leadership Forum meetings, analyst & investor meetings, and select community events where executive participation is anticipated
Build excellent relationships with Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and executive staff by providing outstanding customer service with frequent and effective communication
“Off hours” engagement with internal and external clients to ensure effective execution of events
Oversee negotiating process for venues, goods, and services to ensure fiduciary interests are maximized
Develop and maintain relationships with outside vendors, such as hotels, restaurants, and other venues
Assist in annual budget preparation for the department and monitor performance against budget throughout the year
Maintain competencies and/or relationships with key personnel to ensure events have both in-person and virtual capability
Oversee events from start to finish and implement steps to achieve successful results, setting work and task priorities
Recommend standard methodologies and provide proactive, seasoned counsel on how to meet event goals
Propose new insights to continuously streamline and improve event planning and implementation; understand calendar of events and integration of corporate events with the corporate planning calendar
Ensure all events and associated communications and materials are in alignment with company brand narrative and support our overall strategy
Create plans to effectively promote events
Represent company at select events
Develop strategies for ongoing measurement of event and program effectiveness
Basic Requirements:
Legally authorized to work in the posting country
High school diploma / GED or higher
10 or more years of experience Coordinating, organizing, and/or managing executive services (board meetings, Leadership Forum meetings, analyst & investor meetings, and select community events)
5 or more years of experience negotiating complex vendor contracts
5 or more years of experience in event planning or related role
Ability to manage relationships with outside vendors, such as hotels, restaurants, and other venues
Effective and strong interpersonal communication skills
Strong stakeholder focus and management of client expectations
Proactive and able to identify and execute improvement opportunities
Willing and able to travel 10-20% as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Ability to measure event effectiveness
Strong leadership skills and effective customer relations
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent teamwork skills
