Job Overview

The successful candidate should be an excellent salesperson with outstanding communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. They must possess documented sales experience, preferably with some knowledge of polymers/plastics and the types of applications that they can go into. Part of this role involves managing the conversion of material into a new format before sale, while the majority of this role is basic brokering of materials on an “as is” basis to a suitable end user. This role will require basic vendor and customer management so that the company’s needs are being met on a regular basis.

TerraCycle’s unique business model and the fact that we work with various No. 7-type plastics, this job will require learning about the atypical, non-commodity grade materials that we collect and teaching our prospective clients about them as we go. While training will be provided, this role will call for a proactive person who is willing to learn and adapt to a fast-paced, high-volume work environment and be able to manage a varying schedule due to the wide reach the job requires.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new partnerships for TerraCycle through proactive outreach as well as management of inbound partnership inquiries
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of active conversations and progress deals autonomously with strategic support from the Global Director of Business Development – Freight Recycling
  • Research potential large generators of waste and identify points of contact
  • Reach out to brand targets via cold e-mailing and cold calling
  • Prepare presentations and proposals to support pitching to brand targets, at times in collaboration with the greater Business Development team
  • Present program overview, financial and case study presentations via conference calls and in-person
  • Work very closely with the sales and operations teams to determine process flow, timelines, prerequisites for success, cost estimates, etc.
  • Work with new partners on pricing & finalization of contracts
  • Clerical tasks involving day-to-day administrative work and account management
Requirements:

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years sales experience
  • Experience in recycling, waste management, or material brokering experience, preferred
  • Process-oriented with attention to detail with administrative and clerical tasks
  • Capacity to successfully manage multiple project deliverables with changing deadlines
