Position Description

Responsible for execution of the maintenance function at the Caterpillar plant to repair and maintain the equipment in order to maximize production in a safe and timely manner with the highest quality possible.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Repair and maintain mechanical, hydraulic and robotic components of production machines and equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of malfunction.
  • Perform trouble-shooting analysis on malfunctions and makes adjustments or repairs in timely manner.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Lubricate and clean parts to make and repair parts.
  • Remove and replace worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic systems.
  • Realign and adjust components.
  • Start machines and equipment to test operation following repair.
  • May modify computer-controlled motion of robot, applying knowledge of program commands and using robot controller and PLC.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completed Technical College in Industrial Maintenance or related course and three years of experience in the field.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.
  • Must be able to utilize basic math, use a calculator and read a tape ruler.
  • Computer Skills also required.
  • Employee must be able to lift heavy objects up to 70 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment, and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.
  • Candidate may be required to pass a drug test and Criminal background check based on job location/requirements.
