Maintenance Technician Job at Chesapeake Neighbors

Chesapeake Neighbors Severn, MD 21144

Chesapeake Neighbors was founded in 2007 by The Arc Central Chesapeake Region to provide, promote, and support safe, affordable, and accessible housing for people and families in need. Chesapeake Neighbors believes quality housing shouldn’t be a luxury. It’s a right. We currently own and operate 55 units across central Maryland, and we’re growing. In the last twelve months, Chesapeake Neighbors has completed six new housing units and is currently working on several additional multifamily housing projects.

As we build the future of housing, the Maintenance Technician will be an essential member of the Chesapeake Neighbors team. The technician will report to the Construction & Maintenance Lead and supports the property management team in ensuring the quality and safety of residential and commercial units managed by Chesapeake Neighbors. A typical day would include completing routine maintenance tasks such as installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining facilities and equipment using your carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing skills. Whether it’s preventative maintenance, following safety regulations and procedures, or communicating in a clear, timely, and professional manner, our maintenance technician is a jack of all trades. You will be responsible for purchasing parts, equipment, and supplies, providing emergency repairs and snow removal efforts, and support the landscape division with ground maintenance tasks as needed.

The ideal candidate for this position is adaptable as priorities shift, calm under pressure, and able to sustain a “can do” attitude. This role requires a high school diploma or GED, though a certification in plumbing, HVAC, or another facility-related trade is a plus. This position also requires the employee to live within 15 miles of one of The Arc’s Anne Arundel County offices, which means the employee must have a valid Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. Fluency in English is a must alongside customer service skills, the ability to understand and follow directions with minimal supervision and use technology such as a computer and smartphone. The wage is $25.50/hour, and the position comes with a competitive benefits package.
