Summary or Purpose
Work at a journeyman level in one or more trades in the maintenance, construction, and repair of
District facilities.

Qualification Requirements

Education and/or Experience:
Graduate from high school or general education degree.
Four to five years related experience and/or training.

Language Skills:
Read and interpret procedures, policies and regulations, such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Write routine reports and correspondence.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor, staff, and public.

Preference:
Local, culture and Inupiaq experience preferred.

Mathematical Skills:
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions
and decimals.
Compute rate, ratio and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of non-standard situations.
Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid Class D Alaska driver’s license.
CPR and First Aide
Level I State of Alaska fire extinguisher certification

Other Skills and Abilities:
Lift 70 pounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Keep District facilities in a neat, clean and safe condition and/or perform all custodial duties.

Assist in the maintenance and storage of District property.

Assist in the maintenance and operation and troubleshooting of automated systems.

Assist in implementation of the preventive maintenance program for the District.

Assist in restocking and expediting material within District facilities.

Report unauthorized persons and or damages to appropriate authority as required.
Assist in the supervision, training of personnel as required.

Attend District training as required.

Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign.

Adhere to all District policies and regulations.
