The Maintenance Custodian is responsible for ensuring clean, safe, functional facilities by performing cleaning and maintenance, as well as repair activities such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting when professional licensure is not required.

  • Perform building inspections to ensure building security.
  • Cleans facilities by sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, sealing, buffing, washing rooms, vacuuming, washing surfaces, removing trash, etc.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs of facilities in accordance with any established schedules as well as when requested by work order or verbal communication.
  • Ensure tasks are performed in accordance with the established housekeeping schedules and in accordance with the quality standards required by licensing and sanitation regulations.
  • Complete paperwork necessary for documentation of housekeeping, maintenance, and repair work orders.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of housekeeping supplies.
  • Maintain adequate records of needed materials and expenses related to maintenance and repairs.
  • Secure buildings upon exit.
  • Train new staff and substitutes on housekeeping tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Performs all duties in safe and health manner, using safety precautions and reporting any unsafe conditions for immediate remedy.
  • Ensures and complies with all CHS and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Reports all incidents and/or injuries according to CHS policies and procedures.
  • Completes training as stated by CHS policy HRD-P-022 – Training.
  • Responsible for promoting a positive Safety Culture is expected and necessary to make CHS a safe place in which to work. Safe work practices and policies for this position shall be reviewed and followed.
  • Utilizes the timekeeping system to clock in and out and transfer time correctly
  • Attends staff meetings, in-service, and appropriate staff development training sessions.
  • May be required to work an extended or modified work schedule (including weekends and/or holidays).
  • Staff will understand and appropriately respond to the unique combination of cultural variables through ongoing emphasis on Cultural Competency and training as defined by the CHS Cultural Competency plan.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or higher is required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Working knowledge of tools, machinery and cleaning and other chemicals and materials required.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Must obtain and/or provide proof of driver’s license
  • Must provide proof of personal valid vehicle insurance
  • Medical exam and TB Assessment is required prior to hire and again every 5 years
  • Background screening to include fingerprinting is required prior to hire and again every 5 years

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience and/or formal training in cafeteria operations and/or safety and sanitation regulations relative to food service operations
  • Knowledge of UKG platform preferred.

PAY RANGE: $13.35 - $17.27/hr.
