What to know:
This position is responsible for set up, operation, and oversight of CNC machines.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.

Responsibilities:
- Program, set up, and operate 3, 4, and 5 axis mills efficiently to produce quality parts to required specifications
- Change tooling, fixtures, or jigs as needed to produce parts
- Calibrate machining centers as needed
- Maintain supply of tooling
- Conduct ongoing preventative maintenance for machining centers
- Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances
- Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data
- Examine completed workpieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws
- Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications
- Assist in training new employees in department as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to set up and operate CNC equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals, blue prints, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure and a digital caliper to identify and measure material.
  • Ability to perform simple shop math, convert decimals to fractional equivalents.
  • Able to maintain data privacy and confidentiality. Maintain confidentiality when dealing with all internal and external customers.
  • Display flexibility to meet organization’s unique needs and to be productive in an environment with regular interruptions. Must be flexible to change and have the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Perform duties in a manner consistent with safety principles, and in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards associated with the position and organization.
  • Complete required trainings mandated for position and for working at Voyager Industries.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Credentials and Experience:
Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology or related field plus one year machinist experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Position Hours:
Monday-Thursday, 6:00am-4:30pm
