Operator B - 2nd/3rd shift $17.05/hr start - $19.19/hr

Summary/Purpose
Primary function is to operate and maintain adjustments of various processes, manual/ automated machines and manipulators in the high volume production of quality bearings.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Reads work instructions for product specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
  • Selects, positions, and secures tool in tool holder(chuck, collet, or tool post).
  • Turns valve handle to direct flow of coolant or cutting oil against tool and work piece.
  • Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications, dimensional tolerances and visually inspects parts for non-conformance.
  • Follow standard operating production procedures and work instructions. Perform work in a systematic manner when possible to insure all steps are carried out in proper sequence.
  • Insure pokeyokes and auto-checkers are functioning properly at beginning of each shift by mastering and use of NG “Red Rabbit” samples as specified.
  • Perform operational preventative maintenance according to schedules.
  • Master, use and maintain cleanliness of all dial indicator gages/gage stands, chamfer gauges and other measuring devices to insure quality standards are met. If manufacturing process is causing quality issues or if any issue is detected with any quality gage, Machine Operator will stop production and consult with the Setup and Group Leader.
  • Determine causes of minor machine malfunction and make adjustments or repair in order for machine to process materials in accordance to specifications in a timely manner.
  • Provide accurate and comprehensive information to Setup/Tech when they are called to the line to assist with more difficult technical problems.
  • Record production results on an hourly basis, noting precise reasons for hours where production targets are not achieved.
  • Perform quality checks at TPD specified intervals, making sure that machines are set to the TPD intervals.
  • Perform last piece checks prior to tool change and first piece checks after tool change to insure 100% quality.
  • “Stop/Call/Wait” for Setup and Group Leader assistance for all quality issues to insure Setup quickly resolves the technical issue and Group Leader manages NG product containment to protect our customers.
  • Mark all NG parts with a red paint pen as soon as they are pulled out of process to prevent re-entry into process. All red marked NG parts removed from process must immediately be placed on NG pegs or down NG chutes and moved to red scrap bins at the end of the shift.
  • Accurately and completely fill out scrap tickets for all scrap each shift and move scrap to the red scrap bins at the end of the line.
  • Responsible for all “5-S” and shift handoff responsibilities on a daily basis. Performs major cleanup as required.
  • Follow and complete daily work assignments as directed by Group Leader.
  • Assist on changeover as required.
  • Train other associates as directed.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Occasional pushing and pulling of forging and finish good baskets.
