SUMMARY

This position will oversee the day-to-day operation of the Gaming Commission’s Licensing department by handling; investigations with applicants, communications with federal, state and local agencies research and documentation of all gathered information to present evidence to the Gaming Commission for a licensing decision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate with the Casino HR staff to schedule licensing appointments and communicate status updates on the applicants process and available start date.
  • Assure that the Gaming Commission complies with statutory and regulatory requirements regarding information access, fingerprint submissions and all FBI and NIGC regulations,
  • Develops, initiates, maintains and receives policies and procedures for the general operation of the licensing department and its related activities.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve issues of non-compliance.
  • Perform comprehensive investigations into applicants’ criminal histories, social media accounts, other behavior indicators to check for possible suitability requirements for licensing as prescribed by the NIGC regulations.
  • Organize and keep track of all up to date paperwork, files and expiration dates.
  • Professionally communicate with applicants and businesses while investigating the determinability of their backgrounds and inquiring for further information if necessary.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Four (4) year degree (BS) in Business Administration or (BA) Criminal Justice preferred.
  • Knowledge of all applicable tribal, state and federal regulations pertaining to background investigations and licensing.
  • Preferred to have at least five (5) years of licensing experience or investigative experience in a similar field.
  • Proficient in software used for background investigations and badge programs.
  • Knowledge of proven interview techniques are preferred.
  • Must be dependable and prompt and willing to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, establish and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work under extreme pressure.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be able to travel for periods of time for external training
  • Microsoft office applications

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

  • Normal to light office work, which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment. Be able to use a ladder and a high degree of concentration is necessary.
