OCR OVERVIEW
OCR is an independent agency within the State of Colorado Judicial Branch that supports and oversees guardians ad litem (GAL) OCR employs 12 attorneys, 4 case coordinators and 3 administrative staff members in its El Paso County GAL Office in Colorado Springs, Colorado. THIS POSTING IS FOR A POSITION AT THE EL PASO COUNTY GAL OFFICE . Approximately 85% of the cases handled by the El Paso GAL Office are Dependency and Neglect cases and the balance are Delinquency with a rare Direct File case and some Title 19, Article 7 cases.

Description of Job

BROAD SCOPE OF POSITION:
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide litigation support to Attorneys, including but not limited to preparing, proofing and filing pleadings, and assist with trial preparation as directed by Attorneys.
  • Follow up with Attorneys as to deadlines on a variety of reports (ex. CJD, 30 day visit report, etc.).
  • Complete data entry in the office database, OCR CARES.
  • Serve as initial in-office resource person for IT troubleshooting and support for computers.
  • Generate a variety of required reports.
  • Train new employees on the office database, OCR Cares
  • Request Discovery, track and process invoices.
  • Takes direction from Managing Attorney on miscellaneous projects.
  • Coordinate with OCR staff regarding payroll, mileage billing and leave issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality as client files and operations of the office.
This is a full-time, non-classified position that is non-exempt from overtime under the Federal Labor Standards Act, serving at the pleasure of the Managing Attorney at the GAL Office. All prospective employees of the Colorado Judicial Branch are subject to background investigation prior to hiring.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL / PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of secretarial experience. Must have the ability to work effectively with office staff, multiple attorneys, court staff and the general public. Strong skills in the areas of grammar, spelling, punctuation and legal terminology are required. Candidates should have excellent clerical skills and proficiency in software applications including Microsoft Office, Windows, Internet and cloud-based programs. In general, candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others. They must exercise good judgment and discretion. They should have the ability to organize, prioritize and to work independently.

Supplemental Information

  • Each position within the Judicial branch has a certain salary range assigned to it. Based on experience and other factors, newly hired employees typically begin their employment towards the beginning of the pay range.
