Learning Engineer
WHAT WE SEEK
Carnegie Learning has deep roots in research and advanced technologies, and we are accelerating our efforts to lead in the emerging field of learning engineering, which uses careful measurement and testing to improve the efficacy of our products and services. This position will help investigate, design and support research designs for new software products and features.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE

• Work with an interdisciplinary team to design new features to extend the range of experimental designs, analyses and features of UpGrade, our A/B testing system.
• Recommend and design concrete modifications to UpGrade required to support experimental designs suggested by researchers, both inside and outside Carnegie Learning
• Manage and coordinate the pipeline and implementation of field tests, including making decisions about scope, timeframe, IRB and consent communication
• Interpret and communicate the result of field tests, including recommendations for product changes and follow experiments

WHAT SHOULD BE IN YOUR BACKPACK

• Master’s or Ph.D. in educational psychology, cognitive psychology, statistics or related field
• Strong background in experimental design and methodology, particularly in educational or social science domains

Nice to have

• Programming skills in Python, Javascript or other languages
• Experience with educational applications and field testing in educational settings
• Strong experience with statistics and statistical packages
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work with a diverse team, including instructional designers, researchers and software developers
• Highly organized with strong planning and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
