Learning Designer – Remote EST or CST
The Learning Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and managing learning tools for Allegion customers and Allegion sales consultants on technical products and their applications, specifically in the areas of access control and software. The role will work closely with colleagues in Training, Sales, Field Marketing, Commercial Marketing, Product Management, and the Multi-Family Go-To-Market teams to identify training needs, articulate measurable learning outcomes, and design and develop learning tools that drive customer and employee productivity. This position will report directly to the Instructional Design Manager.
NOTE: Ideal candidate will be located in the Eastern or Central Time Zone to collaborate with team members located in Indianapolis, IN.
What You Will Do:
  • Create appealing, engaging, and on-point digital learning tools
  • Design and maintain asynchronous digital learning tools, e.g., videos, podcasts, online tutorials, etc.
  • Design and maintain learning tools for instructor-led programs, e.g., webinars or in-person events
  • Leverage subject-matter experts to understand how things work and what elements are essential for the target learners
  • Communicate to stakeholders in training, marketing, and sales on the status, effectiveness, and roadmap of assigned training programs
  • Continuously seek ways to improve our learning resources to better serve the needs of the target learners; share best practices and processes with training team colleagues
  • Manage multiple development projects and ensure their successful completion
  • Apply recognized principles of adult learning throughout the design, development, and execution of training interventions
  • Identify training opportunities based on defined performance gaps and learning needs. Recommend training interventions as appropriate, or recommend alternate interventions when training is not the solution
  • Work closely with stakeholders and subject-matter experts to gather, clarify, and apply information
What You Need to Succeed:
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in creating digital tools
  • Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Communications, Journalism, or Education preferred
  • A desire to help people make sense of material that may appear complex, confusing, or foreign
  • Proficiency in:
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Adobe Acrobat
    • Camtasia
    • iMovie or similar basic video editing software
    • HTML or WSYIWYG web design tools
    • Screen recording tools such as SnagIt or QuickTime
    • Macintosh operating system
  • Proficiency in these highly desirable:
    • Final Cut Pro X or similar advanced video editing software
    • Adobe Illustrator or similar illustration software
    • 3D or animation tools
    • Web programming languages such as JavaScript and CSS
    • Responsive web design and development
    • Articulate or other e-learning software
  • Learning agility when facing new assignments, including the flexibility to adjust one’s learning preferences to accommodate the needs of others, the ability to handle ambiguity, and an ability to find underlying patterns on a range of topics
  • Ability to travel 15% for training summits and possible field training implementation

Compensation: This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.
  • The expected Base Salary Range: $62,300 to $81,400. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
